For Featured Grownups
20 years ago I was…
I was 5. I was in Kindergarten at Blue Ball Elementary School. I was having tons of fun reading and playing. Such a fun time.
10 years ago I was…
I was 15. I was going to Terri Hill Mennonite School. I was talking to my friend Cheryl (or Sherbert as we often called her Yes, I am cereal (serious)) Talking to one of my favorite people and administrator of the school Mr. Frank Reed (I hope he knows the wonderful impact that he has made on my life and that I will always think of him and love hearing from him.) I was looking forward to being able to drive as my grandfather had already bought me a 1985 buick skyhawk. A car I still drove until a little over 3 years ago. 15 was a good age. I wouldn’t want to go back to that age but it was a good time.
5 years ago I was…
5 years ago I was 20 and it was the time my son was born. He was a preemie. He was born 5 1/2 weeks early. He needed to be in the NICU at Lancaster Woman’s and Baby’s Hospital for 16 days. He had a very rough start. The first three days we took so many rolls of pictures of him that it wasnt even funny. I couldnt help but think that then at least if he didnt make it I would have pictures of him. I hadn’t gotten to hold him yet because he was on a vent. Finally when he was 4 days old he move to the nasal canula and I was finally able to hold him. He will always be my miracle child. He will be starting school this fall. He has grown so big. To look at him now it is hard to believe that he was ever that little boy that we were scared wouldn’t make it.

We all have a story to tell when we reflect on out lives. Well done on being first listed on the new Featured Grownups topic.
Great post. I love the pictures =)
Dear Kristen,
I’m always amazed at your children’s hairstyles. I see your husband sports the same design. Very interesting. Like Mohawk Indians, almost. Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. Hallelujah for your “miracle child”. Our bodies are so fragile, yet they’re the only thing we’ve got to hold our soul while we’re on this planet.

Dear Kristen,
I run a blogring too, so I’m visiting twice while I have the time, and giving double stars and comments from my other profile.
Hope you don’t mind.

i was going to put pictures in my post too, but i couldn’t find any. this is a lovely way to remember the years past. you obviously had some fond memories of those times. my favourite was reading about your miracle son and seeing what a lovely and healthy boy he has become. There is so much growth and moments of memory when we look back through the years. thank you for posting. this was really a 5star deserving post. keep up the good work.
beautiful child. Glad life’s been good

God is so awesome, and loves all of his children. Who would not serve a ” God” like him, he knows all and sees all and hear all . A vote for you is a vote for All that is good and shared with love.
On 7/17/07, I was inspired to write these lyrics : It’s already there. Whatever you need ,it’s already there (inside of You) ..God’s design and destiny, for your life journey is in his mighty hands. Look deep inside and find your inner strength.God bless the children!!!!
Time flies when you’re having fun!

Great post! Thanks for sharing. If you are anything like me, discussing something so intimate as your child’s health scares are a bit frightening. I am glad everything came through…now you just have to get through starting kindergarten!
