  • Do you think the media puts too much focus on physical beauty?

    Yes, but its not just the media. Many many people do it too.

    People look down on fat people. When they see one they tend to think lazy. the society as a whole perfers skinny, beautiful people.

    If they perfered Fat people then all the models would be fat.

    Has anyone ever see the episode of the Twlight Zone where it is a world fully of ugly people and the people that would be considered beautiful by the standards here are stuck in their own little colonies there because people don’t want to look at them?

    Its not the media’s fault. It is the western culture.

  • I don’t think they put too much attention on weight I just don’t like how celebrities recentley turned anorexic and made it into a trend.. i still like some of those celebrtities but its stupid

    and like you said everyone thinks like that

    Even me.. even when I WAS 160 i didn’t want to make friends with fat people and i didn’t even go out with this guy because he was fat.. because fat is ugly

    and i get mad when i see like morbidly obese people.. just obese people in general that don’t do shit about it!

    when I was fat I didn’t blame guys for not wanting to go out with me or anything like that I was gross

    fat is gross and if someone is fat  I really would want them to try and do something about it

    not just because its unnatractive because it makes you feel so gross!

    When I was 160 I was so uncomfortable everyday! just because I was so overweight

    I couldn’t function like a regular teenager it sucks

    anyway im happy your trying to lose weight=)

  • Hey Kristen, don’t obsess about weight loss! If you wanna do it in a healthy way, read some info from the FDA. Here are a few things to get you started:

    To maintain your current weight, you must eat 15 calories per lb daily. So if someone weighed 200, they would have to eat 3000 calories to maintain, and less if they wanted to loose. The “blanket” recommended daily caloric amount is 2000, but if you want to lose weight, go to those sites, and work from there:)

  • Its true that society puts too much emphasis on being thin.  That is why we have so many teenage girls are practically starving themselves in order to not be too heavy.  There is much ridicule and crude remarks made toward the one that is considered overweight.  The sad thing is it goes on with adults too.
