Romans 1
I want to thank all of you who are praying for us as we adjust to the new change in schedules. We really appreciate it. Thank you and please continue to pray.
Thank you and God bless youJust a note for those of you who may not know…All scriptures quoted on site are KJV. Thank you
Rom 1:1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,
Rom 1:2 (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)
Rom 1:3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
Rom 1:4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
Rom 1:5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
Rom 1:6 Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:
Rom 1:7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Rom 1:8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.
Rom 1:9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;
Rom 1:10 Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.
Rom 1:11 For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;
Rom 1:12 That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.
Rom 1:13 Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.
Rom 1:14 I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise.
Rom 1:15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Rom 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Rom 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Rom 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Rom 1:23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
Rom 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
Rom 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Rom 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
Rom 1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Rom 1:31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.We are not supposed to be ashamed of the gospel. We should be willing to stand up strong. The Just shall live by faith. We need to place our faith in Jesus and follow Him where ever He leads us.
All are without excuse. God has revealed Himself in His creation.
Psa 19:1 <To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.> The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
God showed Himself in His creation but still people make up silly things like “the Big Bang Theory” and don’t thank or glorify God. They think they are so wise and they try to “play god” but they are fools. They make their own gods and worship things like nature instead of the Creator.
So God lets them follow their lusts. He lets them go off and do unnatural things with their bodies. They change the truth of God to lies. There are many bible versions out there that have been twisted by people to say what they want them to say so they can go out and live their sinful ways. They have changed His words to lies.
They were given over to a reprobate mind (a mind void of judgment) because they did not acknowledge God.
It says they were filled with unrighteousness. Here are a few of the things listed…..
Fornication – sexual intercourse outside of marriage. It can also be used to refer to adultery or incest.
Wickedness – to be morally bad, evil in thoughts and purpose.
Full of envy – Discontent at the good fortune of another. The bible speaks of envy as a sin and stumbling block.
Deceit – The intentional misleading of another. Underhanded practice or act intended to mislead.
Backbiters – to slander or speak evil of an absent person
Proud – conceit concerning one’s talents, ability, wealth, etc. It is seeking for one’s self the honor and glory that properly belongs to God.
Inventors of evil things – I could name some evil inventions but I am sure you can think of some yourself.
Disobedient to Parents – Failure (through refusal or neglect) to conform to a command of the parent.
They know that these things are worthy of death, but still not only do them but take pleasure in it.

Oh wow.. I’ve really been thinking of this passage lately!! I’m glad you posted it!! I hope you don’t mind, but since my husband JUST finished this study, I’ll share what the thoughts I’ve been having as a result. It might end up being a blog in the comment box!! LOL!
I’ve read that this passage really dealt with the inward cause of idolatry.. it is most definitely the precursor to not only the worship of idols, but making ourselves the idol, believing in any way that we are capable of saving ourselves through good works would be a monumental act of idolatry.
It’s prevalent in homes and churches across our land, again and again, folks trying to trust in the flesh for their deliverance.. “If I’m a good person and I do this or that then I should go to heaven..” rather than trusting in the finished work of Christ and good works being born out of love and joy in the Savior. What unfortunately has happened is eventually they become their own god, with their eyes firmly fixed on duty rather than the One whom we obey, and they end up grazing in a field somewhere.
The sad part is the sins listed in verses 24-32 are the result of judgment because of the sin of idolatry… the glorification of self through an over emphasis on being “good” or “right”, rather than the glorification of God, “emphasis on His goodness and His righteousness”. It hit me hard the other day when I looked around our community at the number of broken marriages of homeschooling families, church folk, etc.. who are forsaking the faith, and I realized what a danger it is for those of us who have “chosen” a certain path of righteousness that we need to make SURE it’s Christ’s work in our lives and that we aren’t taking pride in these works, but instead living them to the glory of God as our expression of devotion, love and thanksgiving! Realizing that without His resurrection power at work in our hearts, we wouldn’t even WANT to do one good thing, much less try to do it! “
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Eph 2:8-9
I believe it’s yet another warning that we need to FOCUS on our Savior, His cross, His resurrection, His life and JOYFULLY live the expression of our gratefulness to ALL around us, proclaiming the gospel not only with our words, but also with our actions, in all humility and grace.
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of
our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross,
despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of
God.”
Hebrews 12:2
I’ll stop there! You covered a lot of my other thoughts.. in regards to honoring God as the Creator rather than embracing evolution. Sorry.. I’m long winded tonight!
Have a blessed evening!
