  • I am dying to know

Psalms 119:81-88  (Kaf) I am dying to know your salvation; my hope is in your word.  (82)  My eyes fail from watching for your promise; I ask, “When will you comfort me?”  (83)  For I have shriveled like a wineskin in a smoky room; still, I don’t forget your laws.  (84)  How long can your servant stay alive? When will you bring judgment on my persecutors?  (85)  The arrogant have dug pits for me to fall in; this is not in keeping with your Torah!  (86)  All your mitzvot [show your] faithfulness; they are hounding me with lies; help me!  (87)  They have nearly ended my life on earth, but I have not abandoned your precepts.  (88)  In keeping with your grace, revive me; and I will observe your spoken instructions.

The Psalmist is not crying out for salvation of soul, but to be delivered from the devastating situation he has found himself in. And where does he run to for help? Not his therapist. Not the court system. He does not complain to his friends. He doesn’t try to run away and hide from his problems. He turns to the Word of G-d, his hope is in the Word as he waits for G-d to fulfill His promise according to His Word.

The idea is that of digging a pit in order to capture animals. If you dug a pit and your neighbor’s ox fell into it, you’d have to pay for the ox (Ex. 21:33-34).

What are you going to let affect your life the most, troubles, or the Word?

Paul had lived a rough life as an apostle. By the time you get to Acts 20, he’s had all sorts of troubles. He writes of some of them in 2Corinthians, which was written around the time of Acts 20:1. Here’s some of what he’s faced as he contrasts himself with some of the false teachers of the day:

2 Cor 11:23-27  Are they ministers of Yeshua? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft. {24} Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one. {25} Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; {26} In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; {27} In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

By the time of Acts 20, Paul had started making the rounds of the churches he had planted and was collecting money for the church in Jerusalem because a famine had struck Jerusalem. As he made his way back to Jerusalem, one prophet after another received a word from G-d saying that Paul was going to be arrested in Jerusalem. When he stopped to visit with the elders of the church in Ephesus, where he had spent three years …

Acts 20:17-24  And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church. {18} And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons, {19} Serving Adonai with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews: {20} And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have showed you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house, {21} Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our messiah Yeshua. {22} And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: {23} Save that the Ruach HaKodesh witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. {24} But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of Yeshua the Messiah, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Paul had learned much about affliction, and he wasn’t about to let it stop him from what G-d had called him to do. His focus was on G-d, not on his affliction.

The same attitude is what will defeat Satan in a great battle coming up where Satan will be cast out of heaven once and for all:
Revelation 12:10-11 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of Yeshua: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. {11} And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

    What moves you?

  • What’s So Frightening About

What’s So Frightening About a Veiled Woman?

Nothing strikes fear in the Western psyche like a piece of cloth on a woman’s head.

What are your thoughts? Is it hate? Fear?

Why do some people hate me right away when they see me just because of cloth on my head?

  • Your hands made and formed me

Psalms 119:73-80  (Yud) Your hands made and formed me; give me understanding, so I can learn your mitzvot.  (74)  Those who fear you rejoice at the sight of me, because I put my hope in your word.  (75)  I know, ADONAI, that your rulings are righteous, that even when you humble me you are faithful.  (76)  Let your grace comfort me, in keeping with your promise to your servant.  (77)  Show me pity, and I will live, for your Torah is my delight.  (78)  Let the proud be ashamed, because they wrong me with lies; as for me, I will meditate on your precepts.  (79)  Let those who fear you turn to me, along with those who know your instruction.  (80)  Let my heart be pure in your laws, so that I won’t be put to shame.

You are not an accident of evolution. You were designed by a G-d who cares for you. He designed you. He made you. He knows what you need. He knows how you work.

Sometimes affliction comes because we’re going in the wrong direction. You will get caught.

An elderly rabbi, having just retired from his duties in the temple, finally decides to fulfill his lifelong fantasy to taste pork. He goes to a hotel in the Catskills in the off-season (not his usual one, mind you), enters the empty dining hall and sits down at a table far in the corner. The waiter arrives, and the rabbi orders roast suckling pig. As the rabbi is waiting, struggling with his conscience, a family from his congregation walks in! They immediately see the rabbi and, since no one should eat alone, they join him. Shocked, the rabbi begins to sweat. At last, the waiter arrives with a huge domed platter. He lifts the lid to reveal nothing else but roast suckling pig with a big apple in its mouth. “This place is amazing!” cries the rabbi. “You order a baked apple, and look what you get!”

In a world that has moved away from the truths of G-d’s Word, this Psalm is a great reminder of how important the Word of G-d is to our lives. Never forget that.

  • what is on my heart….

G-d has placed Pakistan on my heart. I am not sure where yet that will lead but Pakistan is heavy on my heart.

Pakistan was formed in 1947 as the Muslim section in the partition of British India. In 1971, as a result of a civil war, East Pakistan left Pakistan to form the state of Bangladesh. For more than half its history, Pakistan has frequently been under the rule of the military that deposes elected governments at will. The constitution establishes Islam as the state religion; evangelism among Muslims is banned. In 1998, Sharia law was adopted in Pakistan, under which Christians have limited rights.

Christians in Pakistan face severe opposition from militant Islamic groups, including imprisonment, torture and even death. Many Pakistani Christians have been falsely accused under Law 295c of blaspheming Mohammed or the Quran, a crime punishable by death. Courtrooms packed with militants have often pressured judges into returning a guilty verdict or continuing trials indefinitely.  Christians are regularly barred from jobs or face troubles from their employers and co-workers. Christian merchants are often harassed. The war in Afghanistan intensified problems, with Pakistani Christians seen as being a part of an attack on Islam. In court, a Christian man’s testimony is worth half that of a Muslim man’s. A Christian woman’s is worth only a quarter, so Christian women and young girls are easy targets for rape — and justice for them is elusive.

North West Frontier Province has passed a bill that has been described by critics as the “Talibanization” of Pakistan. The law sets up a watchdog with the power to reform the society in accordance to “Islamic values,” which includes ensuring that such values are observed in public places. The law is strongly opposed by the federal government. Christians are praying that this law will not be implemented country-wide, and that they can move toward more religious freedoms.

Pakistan’s blasphemy laws are so vaguely formulated that they encourage, and in fact invite, the persecution of Christians.

    Please Pray for Pakistan.

    Thank you

  • Who Am I?

    Featured_Grownups asked the questions

    Tell us about you.
    Or
    Who Am I?

So here is my attempt. I hope you enjoy.

I am a Wife and a Mother of Three

I was raised by my grandparents.

    I love hiking

I believe in YHWH, and that He is all-powerful, omni-present, eternal, exists outside of creation, and is infinitely significant and benevolent.

I believe in the Shema. Shema Means ‘hear’ and is the quintessential Jewish text from Dvarim/Deuteronomy 6:4.: Shema Yisrael Adonai Eloheinu Adonai Echad. (Hear, O Israel: The L-RD our G-d is one L-RD) showing the uniqueness of the G-d of Israel. Israel didn’t require many gods (like harvest gods, fertility gods, fire gods) The G-d of Israel is unique and infinite — He alone is sovereign.

I believe in Yeshua Hammashiach (Jesus the Messiah). I accept Yeshua  as “the Torah (Word) made flesh” (John 1:14), and believe He is YHWH.

I believe that the Children of Israel were, remain, and will continue to be the chosen people of the G-d of Jacob, and are central to his plans for existence.

I believe The Tanakh (Old Testament) and B’rit Hadashah (New Testament)  are the established and divinely inspired Biblical scriptures

I believe YHWH and His Word are eternal, that is: He, His Word and His Will has always, and will always, be the same. Malachi 3:6, Hebrews 13:8, Matthew 5:18; 24:35.

I believe women should veil their heads

    I believe in modesty

Observe the weekly Shabbat (Sabbath), starting at sundown on Friday night. The Shabbat [Sabbath], the seventh day of the week, is the created holy day of HaShem (G-D), which He gave to mankind and covenanted with His people as a sign forever. Exodus 31:16, Genesis 2:2-3, Isaiah 58:13-14, Matthew 12:8. By resting on the seventh day, we acknowledge that we do not own our world. Our world is HaShem’s domain. This is a day for looking at what HaShem has created and lent to us for our enjoyment. By setting aside one day for Shabbat, we also proclaim our freedom from daily obligations, commitments, worries and concerns. We declare that one day of the week is for our own rejuvenation.

Days begin at sunset, because in the story of creation in Genesis Ch. 1, you will notice that it says, “And there was evening, and there was morning, one day.” From this, we infer that a day begins with evening, that is, sunset.

I believe in the literal 6 day Creation by YHWH.

    Shalom uv’racha

  • My husband has great taste….

My husband is wonderful and has great taste. Why you ask? Because he got me the wonderful outfit that I am wearing today. I just love it.

    Here are pictures.

  • You have treated your servant well

Psalms 119:65-72  (Tet) You have treated your servant well, ADONAI, in keeping with your word.  (66)  Teach me good judgment and knowledge, because I trust in your mitzvot.  (67)  Before I was humbled, I used to go astray; but now I observe your word.  (68)  You are good, and you do good; teach me your laws.  (69)  The arrogant are slandering me, but I will wholeheartedly keep your precepts.  (70)  Their hearts are as thick as fat, but I take delight in your Torah.  (71)  It is for my good that I have been humbled; it was so that I would learn your laws.  (72)  The Torah you have spoken means more to me than a fortune in gold and silver.

Our focus must be our walk with G-d. If we take care of that, then G-d will take care of all the lies that the enemy is raging against us.

The world loves all the material things it can gain, and yet we have the Word of G-d. They have things that are perishable, we have G-d’s Word which has eternal implications. Their heart is fat and insensitive, their minds are dull and brutal. But the Word of G-d, like a surgical instrument, removes the fat and makes us sensitive to His leading. Our minds are renewed and sharp, and we long to see the lost come to Yahshua.
