I go to a realatives house. That sucks!
I use vodka.
Just kidding…
I’d call neighbors just to make sure it’s not their problem also. But hopefully they would lend you some just as you would them. A good opportunity to build bridges anyway. I’d call the city maybe if neighbors also had a problem. They might also have ideas. Hate to say it but if you’re desperate for water either buy some bottled if you cxn afford it or go to the cemetary. Usually there are places there where you can fill up water to water plants for gravesites. Just something Molly and I figured out one day in case such an emergency. Public library or mcdonalds for washroom. Some homeless shelters for shower. But hopefully your neighbors would offer that. You’d think so anyway.. I guess you find out in a crisis who really has your back
Relatives or friends is good too. If you can count on them
@YouTOme - Truck stop showers are cleaner than the ones in homeless shelters. You have to pay a small fee to use them but it is usually like $5 and they are big so you can take all the kiddos in with you.
… Don’t ask why I know that LOL
That really stinks, hope it comes back on right soon for you.
@radicalramblings - Hahaha I was going to say the same thing.
In short of renting a motel room and camping out there….
You still can use toilet for fluid purpose. Concerned about amount of TP in bowl? Put it in its own trash can and pitch the whole thing when you can resume using toilet normally. You do what you gonna need to do. Just keep door closed and periodically run the vent. I will have no problem temporarily use 5 gal bucket with tight fitting lids. Icecream buckets would be perfect. When full enough, quietly deposit it in dumpster. Have plenty of space in backyard and enough privacy? Boys can go out back. One could dig a hole in ground in out-of-way corner to dump bucket content- cover it with a layer of dirt so neighbor doesn’t need to smell it. Tired of hearing the complaints? Give them job of emptying bucket. That ought to shut them up!
Do you have hot water heater? You can drain it into buckets to help flush toilet once a day. If you drink tap water, then water out of heater should be fit to be consumed. Plan on washing up out of a big bowl. That’d take only a gallon and I recommend body wash (not so skin-drying). A person REQUIRING shower or tub bath? go elsewhere. “Wash-up” should serve you just fine in-between.
Prepare to buy cheapest water available at stores (if not toting buckets of water from elsewhere) and use that to cook with. I could and would easily live without water for up to a week before needing to run to laundrymat etc. Don’t be afraid to reuse clothes if it is not that dirty. Hanging them outside between uses freshen it.
I should know because I’ve lived many years without electricity but with running water (no sewer) and I’m not Amish.
