The only thing more dangerous then the disease are the carriers
Today I watched a movie called Carriers.
Four people fleeing a viral pandemic soon learn they are more dangerous than any virus.
A deadly virus has spread across the globe. Contagion is everywhere, no one is safe and no one can be trusted. Their aim is to retreat to secluded utopian beach in the Gulf of Mexico, where they could peacefully wait out the pandemic and survive the apocalyptic disease. Their plans take a grim turn when their car breaks down on an isolated road. The virus is the least of their problems as horrible choices must be made in the face of lost humanity.
I really liked this movie. It makes you think. It’s thought provoking. What if you are placed in this situation.
The rules are simple….
Numer One: Avoid populated areas at all costs.
Number Two. When you come into contact with other people, assume they have it.
Number Three: The virus can survive on surfaces for up to 24 hours, Never touch anything that’s not disinfected.
And the last rule: take what you need and never look back. You break the rules, you die.
You follow them, you live.
Maybe.Carriers is not scary but it is deep, dark and though provoking.
What would one do if a family member becomes sick with a highly contagious disease?
Would one pull over to help someone who’s already doomed to die?
It is a movie about moral choices.

First question: I would try to take care of the person. His/her life is much more important than mine.
Second question: How would you know that someone on the side of the road is doomed to die?
The movie looks good.
well….my belief would pretty much break that. on the one hand you would definitely face those concerns and moral choices because you care for others. but on the other you wouldn’t act based on fear. fear-based actions are more prone to error. the key thing is that as a Muslim we believe the time of death is already written, and we all know death will come to us all. Imagine some people end up having the disease but live for a very long time or are somewhat immune, whereas others might die promptly. The important thing isn’t contracting or spreading the virus or even curing it, it’s how you use the time. You are going to be defined your last actions, in the wake of such a unique peak of stress either the inner good or lack thereof or evil would be exposed. Some people would make reminders like I’m making now, others would reach out and take care of people trying to keep them physically comfortable, others would be the role models of strength and power, each would play to their strengths in connecting us keeping the two lost aspects of health alive. Those lost aspects are the unseen, the human soul, and the other is external to the individual, it is the social element.
That’s what I imagine at least.
this reminds me of Legend =) one man sought a cure to the end and gave his life for it despite almost having given up hope. and some how the cure made its way to a colony of isolated survivors. HOPE. =) it is essential to life!
That is a lot to think about. But now I really want to watch this.
My family and I actually own this movie. The entire time I saw this I kept thinking, “Why do they keep trying to get vehicles and gas?” They should’ve just went to live out in the woods and returned to the basics of life. Hunting, farming…ect
going to have to check this out. really provokes a lot of thought and consideration
