  • United States of Tara

I have started watching a show online. It is called United States of Tara. It is about to start it’s third season but I only started watching it recently so I am still watching the first season and then I will watch the second before watching the third.

I really am liking it. United States of Tara is an American dark comedic television drama. It is about the life of Tara (Toni Collette), a suburban housewife and mother coping with dissociative identity disorder (also at one time called Multiple Personality Disorder). Whenever she is stressed, she transitions into one of her alternate personalities: wild and flirty teenager T; 1950s housewife Alice; and male, loud, beer-drinking Vietnam vet Buck.

    Max: “Is Mom here?”
    Marshall: “Yeah. I mean, Mom’s here…but I’m not sure ‘Mom’s’ here.”

Max: [Talking to his daughter about her mom] You know a bad surprise is a trigger for her.
Kate: Dad, everything is a trigger lately. I mean, why can’t mom be manic depressive like all the other moms? You can’t expect me to be the perfect child all the time, just because mom acts like a lot of different people when she’s stressed.

Anyone else watching this show? Check it out people :)

my brother’s suggested all of them and so far the first two are amazing, so i’m excited for this.

  • I haven’t seen it but I’ve heard a lot about it. I think I’ll check it out.

  • Abraham Lincoln’s horse was named Buck.  When my boys were small, they played a game with me where I got on all 4′s and neighed like a horse and gave them horseback rides and they called me Buck.  They loved that game, especially when they told me to go “all flat!”

  • I love this show!  It’s so great to see mental illness portrayed on TV without all the stigma.
