Yes, they are trying to roll back the 20th century.
The fact that we’re debating the social benefits of child labor laws in the second decade of the 21st century casts the madness that’s gripped our right-wing in sharp relief. It took a hard-fought, century-long battle to get compliant kids working for slave-wages out of American workplaces, and that battle was supposedly won 73 years ago.

We only need a slight reversal of the civilization we’ve built for people to get the message. Progress is progressive, not regressive.
It figures that the Teabagers are behind this. They’re taking America downhill on every level and the public just stands by and watches. Of course business is behind these bills. They stand to gain all the benefits while the kids lose both their education and their childhood.
@striemmy - i hope you are right, but a lot of crafty forces have been working very hard on the regression thing, for quite a long while.
Messed up..
I’m going to post about this.
it’s like they’re saying “they’re only kids, they’re not important, an education is not important.” and it mentioned parental consent a few times, basically to add “but what their parents think is important.”
how selfish.
They’re only talking about making their state laws match federal laws.
@blonde_apocalypse - thanks for that clarification. i hadn’t read the article yet.
Is it terrible that nothing the GOP does surprises me anymore? A bag of dicks, they are. Every single one of them.
The United States of America… a country that amazes me. Not in an entirely good way.
