Jerry Sandusky guilty
It is no surprise to me and I doubt it is any surprise to most people who have followed the case. Sandusky has been found guilty on 45 of 48 counts.
Jurors delivered the guilty verdict around 10 p.m. Friday after deliberating for 21 hours. Now it is up to the judge to decide the punishment. Sandusky should be sentenced in about 90 days, the judge said. It is likely that Sandusky will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
The judge will have to decide if Sandusky is a sexually violent predator – it carries stiffer reporting and treatment requirements once someone is out of prison – and can use information from the board’s investigation in a sentencing decision.
If He is sentenced to state prison (which should be a given) then he will be transferred to Camp Hill, where new inmates are put through medical, dental, psychiatric, psychological, vocational and educational testing
He then would be placed in a state prison based on his treatment plans and available beds. Sex offenders are required to undergo mandatory treatment programs.
Age is not a factor in the placement of Sandusky, 68, but any medical conditions could be. Inmates from 18 to 79 are housed in general populations, although older inmates may be put in lower bunks and have other handicap accommodations.
Below is a detailed look at the different counts Sandusky faced and the jury’s verdicts.

Glad he was found guilty, but no punishment can give those victims back what they lost. Reading the list of charges kind of makes my stomach turn.
I think everyone believed that he was guilty. He will never be free again.
i think this scandal is continuing—cover-up allegations, civil law suits, and a world famous university’s name ruined–possibly unrepairably.
These crimes cause unimaginable harm to the victims. The same as with young girls. it is a crime that affects victims the rest of their lives. Most of these guys cannot be ‘cured.’ Castration does not work, as I understand it.
It is a hideous crime against children.
I heard ESPN reporting he was on a suicide watch and his lawyers were appealing. I kind of had a feeling that would happen but I wish it wouldn’t because it’s just going to drag this on. All the photos I’ve seen after the verdict, Sandusky looks so shocked.
Apparently there is more. Others have come forward, including his own son, to say he abused them too, so it looks likely he will have further criminal charges. People knew and didn’t stop it. How do they sleep at night? I’m glad he’s going to prison, so he can’t hurt any more kids, but the harm he’s done is stunning.
@godfatherofgreenbay - that is the most terrifying part of all this. all the photos before where he looked so smug and happy with himself like he didn’t believe he could be found guilty because he hadn’t done anything wrong. of course the lawyers are going to appeal. i think they set it up to appeal from the very beginning.
@ANVRSADDAY - this town has been drug through the dirt over this man. penn state has been so badly represented. and i hear there were people who brought their children to the courthouse to cheer when the verdict came down. we’re not all like that either. acting like justice has been done because a court found him guilty. there is no justice for this whole sorry situation. those boys (men) will never regain what they’ve lost at his hands. (which is the most important thing even though i said it last.)
@promisesunshine - I caught something on ESPN that I hadn’t heard on any of the news networks. They were talking with a lawyer and the lawyer didn’t think Sandusky knew what was going on as to the seriousness of this situation. Just wait, they’ll try to get him in a mental facility.
@godfatherofgreenbay - i wouldn’t be a bit surprised. it might not even be a ploy.
