I believe I can. I am Jesuit, so I believe that what happens during my time on Earth is what’s important. Even if it turns out that there is no God, I am happy living a meaningful life. I want a life that will influence others. I want to finish whatever I begin. I want to feel pleased with my work. I want to be open minded. I want to love myself. I want to love, and be loved. I want to love those who don’t love me. I want to be important. If it turns out there is no God, no Afterlife, no meaning after I leave this Earth; I want my time here be worth the time my time spent; then my life will be meaningful.
I liked this. It was uplifting, in a way. I feel honored that, one day, Carl Sagan and I will be star stuff in the same universe–not necessarily this one.
if anything, i believe that an afterlife makes this life meaningless.
As one who believe in reincarnation….LOL no comment!
@flapper_femme_fatale - meaningless yes. I still think actions here matter in terms of intent, but that’s really it, intent.
