Old House means no closets
Anyone who has lived in an old house knows what that means…..No closets unless they have been added later. Old houses did not have closets. We live in an old farm house. I know another woman who lives in an old house too and we were talking about what we do with our things. She asked me what I do with my towels. She had no idea what to do with hers and actually just had them on a pile in the corner of the bathroom.
I thought I would share with you all what we have come up with to store ours. (maybe it can give an idea to any of the rest of you in an old house) This is an old metal filing cabinet. It has the tray still on the bottom but the front is removed. It is sitting in the corner of the bathroom in front of the attic door. It does need to be moved forward whenever we need to go to the attic. But it works well there. Our bathroom (like in many old houses) is not that big. When the house was first built there was no bathroom. You had to go out to the outhouse

Great idea. Mobil homes are short on storage space too! I keep my towels in a large square basket that is the width of a folded towel. I put the towels in standing neatly on end or rolled depending what mood I am in. It looks homey and is tidy.
@duaneleann - that sounds like a great idea too
eh, you have to drive everywhere.
I would have never thought of doing that. That’s an awesome idea. And I like the idea of using a basket too. We have an old house, and we have ONE closet in the hallway of the house. So annoying!
When we live in our other house we had the smallest bathroom and i put a shelf over the commode and that was the only place that i had to put it even are bath room sink was out in our kitchen i think of those time and wonder how i did it with three chrildren at that time but they were good times now we do have a big closet in the bathroom where we live now and at times i still don’t know where to put everything lol

hmmm…never lived on a farm before. Been a suburb/city person all my life.
Great idea! That’s really cool… =)
@cleaner2 - we can’t put anything above our toilet. That’s where the fusebox is
I love this idea.
