Baptism
Isa 53:1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
Isa 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
Isa 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Isa 53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
Isa 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Isa 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Isa 53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
Isa 53:8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
Isa 53:9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
Isa 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
Isa 53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
Isa 53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.Act 8:35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture,(Isaiah 53) and preached unto him Jesus.
Act 8:36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
Act 8:37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
Act 8:38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.Yesterday at church we had 7 young people (ages 5-9) get baptized. It was such a wonderful thing to see. I can hardly wait until it is my own children (ages 4, 5 and 6) getting baptized. I pray for their salvation every day. My daughter (6) does not yet totally understand Sin and salvation. I will be rejoicing when they understand and accept Christ as savior.
People who are to be baptized are believers. Repent and be baptized. When we get saved, we are putting faith and trust in Jesus. Baptism is showing others that we have been saved. Baptism should come after one has trusted in Christ.
Look at Acts 8. Before he could be baptized he had to believe. He believed. He confessed Jesus is the savior.
They went into the water. Baptism isn’t sprinkling or pouring. Baptism is actually going down into the water. You are showing the death, burial and resurrection of Christ.
What you need to get saved is believe on Jesus. Baptism is just a step of obedience.Act 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
Act 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.Baptize in the name of the Father, son and Holy Ghost.

As I was reading through this I was like uhoh…am I going to have to talk to someone about this again? I am very glad to see that you understand the difference between Salvation and Baptism.
Thank you for taking the time to post this, it is important to realize that people that believe baptism saves them are not saved because they are believing in a false Gospel. I would guess that is probably 80-90 percent of people professing to be Christians.
Thank you..your words are not in vain.
in Jesus Forever,

amen, you said it correct I always encourage people to get baptised right after excepting Christ you have that one day, that one chance to do it on the same day……….Once you get past those two steps its a wonderful feeling to grow in the Lord. My husband and I both have been saved and baptised. We have been blessed to see out three oldest children all do the same. An now the almost 5 year old is starting to ask many questions. I think her heart is being prepared by the Lord. Keep her in prayer, as I know she has a fear of water and the devil will use that against her.
I agree. I dont think you have to be baptized to be saved. The man on the cross next to Jesus was no baptized. But I do think it is an act of obedience. Christ said do as I do. And he was baptized. And I also think it is a condition of the heart, Because you can go in a sinner and come out a wet sinner and nothing has changed. I dont think that it has to be done the same day either. When a person is ready to make that next commitment then they will know the time is ready for them.
I too believe it is important to look to Jesus when anything is being questioned… I see that Jesus was baptized, but I also see that He fulfilled all of the Jewish traditions. When referring to the point of Jesus saying “do as I do”, I look to what He actually told His disciples to do and what He showed them and spoke of over and over.
It seems that Jesus being baptized with water was just another step of explaining the representation of the physical traditions to the spiritual realities. If we are going to say that water baptism is something that Jesus tells us to do… then we should also be walking through EVERY single Jewish tradition with each passing year because Jesus did it.
Water baptism is your choice not God’s desire and it’s sad that it’s been raised to such a level that people confuse it with salvation.
@iamlovedbygod - ypu are right and wrong. Right in it is sad to see it raised to salvation, but wrong in the it is not God’s will for Christians to be baptized.
Look at these verses
Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
Act 8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
Act 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
Act 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days
Act 18:8 And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.
Act 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
Rom 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
Gal 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Col 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
