Do you keep track of how many calories you eat a day? If so what is your average.

If you don’t keep track do you just try to eat healthy? Do you try to eat perfect portions? or do you just eat whatever?

What is your idea of a perfect day food wise?

  • thanks… it’s my ED site so i’m not sure how you found it but anyhow, hi back :)

  • I wish I could say that I still eat healthy.  But I’m not so much right now.

Generally, I try to just eat healthy, with smaller portions, and exercise.

  • @alice_tiny - clicking around through friends and friends friends etc.

  • well hi back! and as you can tell i don’t really eat very healthy, i try to stay under 500 calories when im eating.

  • I try to get an appropriate amount of dairy, grain, fruits and veggies and protein being pregnant, but I’m sure I take in a little too much ot the others….

  • If you saw me you would know I don’t keep track of it at all!!

  • @Hecalmsthestorm - LOL are you saying you are a bit chubby LOL

  • My body is used to eating at scheduled times in the day, I always eat sugar-free or fat-free snacks and I try to eat fairly healthy foods, especially fruits and vegetable (I love them!). And no, I do not count calories.

  • @Kristenmomof3 - Infer what you will!!!

  • A perfect day for me is I hate when I was hungry and I stopped as soon as I was full.

  • I was using this http://www.sparkpeople.com for awhile and did well with it, but it got a little tedious after awhile (with everything that was going on then, I should probably pick it back up)   I did enjoy learning how many calories, protiens, carbs etc was in everything I was eating though.    I find what does best for me is to eat when I’m actually hungry, getting small portions (even if I know I’ll have to go back for 2nds) and having easy healthy snacks (like grapes,  I just grab 5 at a time, wash and eat and that takes care of those sugar cravings)

  • I shoot for around 1,200 calories a day. Sometimes my crazed mind changes it, it is a day by day thing.

  • Sigh…if I planned better I would eat better – life is such a rush that sometimes I eat on the run and that is not good!!!!

  • I’m not healthy at all. My sisters and mom have recently been counting calories and they were surprised at how many they were eating. They’ve actually lost a lot of weight doing it too.

  • I think counting calories is a very faulty way of measuring one’s health… so no I NEVER do.

we eat a lot of healthy fats and acids in this house. I’ve seen great improvement. we never gorge and gluttin, either. we jusy enjoy food, stay away from things that bother us or cause us problems and eat as healthy as possible 95% of the time so we can feel free to eat junk now and again knowing it wont cause damage.

again I say, losing weight doesn’t make one healthy! thinness is only one of MANY ways to calculate one’s health.

  • Since we began living on a simple budget and all meals from scratch I have stopped worrying. In fact we all have become much healthier. All have toned up and I(the only one chubby) lost a good deal of weight.

Make food from scratch and remove as many preservatives as possible and you will be amazed. Of course I must confess that we hand wash clothes, muck out pens and live a very rural lifestyle.

  • well, i do count calories, && i try to stay under 500 cals. so i obviously do not eat healthy.

  • No. No. No. Yes. Pizza.

  • I use http://www.fitday.com
I like it you can keep track of what you eat, weight, how many calories you burn, etc. It is very simple you just check off food that you ate and it keeps track of how many calories the avarage piece has. Then you click on an activity and how long you did it and it keeps track of the calories you burn. It also uses that info to track how much of different vitamins you are getting through your foods. You can set goals for different things like weight, calories, water, vitamins, etc.
This site is free, there is something where you can get extras by buying a subscription, but I have been using this for over a year and never found a need for one.
