  • Beautiful…..Tell me your thoughts

This is a song that I have fallen in love with ever since the first time I heard it. It is so beautiful. It is actually written by a Muslim but do not write it off because of that fact. Listen to it and tell me your thoughts. I just love this song. I think it says so much. What do you think??

  • WHAT IS IT. I CAN NOT GET YOUTUBE AT WORK? IS IT ON TANGLE.COM(GODTUBE)

  • @Mighty_Men_of_Valor - no, I didn’t find it…Probably because it is written by a Muslim. Here are the lyrics (The video is beautiful as is the music)
    Lyrics: The Veil

They say, “Oh, poor girl, you’re so beautiful you know
It’s a shame that you cover up your beauty so.”
She just smiles and graciously responds reassuringly,
“This beauty that I have is just one simple part of me.
This body that I have, no stranger has the right to see.
These long clothes, this shawl I wear, ensure my modesty.
Faith is more essential than fashion, wouldn’t you agree?

    This hijab,
    This mark of piety,
Is an act of faith, a symbol,
For all the world to see.
A simple cloth, to protect her dignity.
So lift the veil from your heart to see the heart of purity.

They tell her, “Girl, don’t you know this is the West and you are free?
You don’t need to be oppressed, ashamed of your femininity.”
She just shakes her head and she speaks so assuredly,

“See the bill-boards and the magazines that line the check-out isles, with their phony painted faces and their air-brushed smiles?
Well their sheer clothes and low cut gowns are really not for me.
You call it freedom, I call it anarchy.”

    This hijab,
    This mark of piety,
Is an act of faith, a symbol,
For all the world to see.
A simple cloth, to preserve her dignity.
So lift the veil from your heart to see the heart of purity.
Lift the veil from your heart and seek the heart of purity.

  • Here’s what I think – there’s nothing wrong with wearing a veil, if you do so out of faith.  If you do so out of legalism, then you are still in bondage.

  • @radicalramblings - how do you define legalism? There are so many definitions by so many people. Some use it for anything someone does that is “more religious then them” or something they would not want to do.

Many people call all Christian women who wear a covering legalistic….but all the Christian women I know believe in Salvation by Grace through faith and the covering is just to follow what they believe G-d says in His word, which would not be legalistic right?

  • @Kristenmomof3 - Thanks, Kristen.  I do run into that.  I’ve even heard people saying that a veiled woman going into a church where it’s not the custom to veil is calling all the unveiled women prostitutes simply by being there.  I’ve also heard legalism (in the modern use of the word) defined as: “Any practice that you don’t want to do yourself can be dismissed by calling it legalism; any practice that you feel strongly about is simply righteousness.”  Self-righteousness, that is.  I have too much trouble obeying the Word myself to try and call people out for not doing everything that I do.  Hold people accountable for sin, yes.  Nit-pick, no.  I just wrote a blog about how messy Christianity is…
BTW, I did like that song.  The lyrics, anyway.  Couldn’t get the video.

  • Assalamualaikum! Good post for all women in the world.

  • @ThePraisedOne - yeah, but I doubt many will see it. It is not the type of post that will get featured or be posted on Revelife or Lovelyish.

  • I think the fact that it was written by a Muslim makes it better. Although personally, I would never want to be covered.

  • @SerenaDante - The disclaimer was needed because some of my Christian readers may be quick to discard it because it was written by a Muslim.

    I believe it is beautiful.

I think I would be beautiful if all women veiled.

  • @SerenaDante - No worry. I will not force you to do so

  • @Kristenmomof3 - Lol, that doesn’t sound like a very “Christian” thing to do…

  • @ThePraisedOne - Bahahaha! I know, you’d want to see my gorgeousness everywhere ;D

  • @SerenaDante -  oh well you know how it is lol

  • @SerenaDante - The beauty of God’s creation it is

  • I love the song.

  • Hey Kristen,

Thanks for posting that song! It is beautiful and incredibly powerful! Very apropos after the heavy thinking the Lord has had me doing this week. Thanks so much for leaving your comment on my blog! I very much appreciate you stopping by and your perspective! Hope to see you again soon!

  • I love the video and the song.  The lyrics are Truth – whether Muslim, Christian, or Jew.  We share this in common whether some discern it to be God’s word and Will or not!

  •  A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.

I find it quite revealing that the list of “approvers” is what it is.

  • I love what you are saying here.  I “googled- Christian woman that wear headcoverings”  and you were in the top ten.  There are many different ways to learn of other religions, and practices….and the fact remains that through Allah/G-d/God we are the same- His children.  Thank you for what you’re doing, and speaking for all woman that what to be the best we can.
