  • Christmas….CHRIST-MAS????

My Friend wrote something and I would like to share it with you….

Christmas day 2007 I sat around my Christmas tree opening presents and thought ‘what in the world are we celebrating, JESUS, wasn’t even born on this day?’
    *
    *
Who knew from that day on, He would have His hand on my heart and mind to find out the truth.
    *
    *
As a society we have been led to believe that we don’t know the exact date of Yahshua’s birth and that is what is ingrained in our minds year after year.
December 25th has been the ‘accepted’ time and people accept it as Bible truth.
    *
    *
There are some of us though, who get tired of being spoon fed the same old diatribe year after year so we take it upon ourselves to find the truth of a matter. It’s amazing the things that happen when you say ‘Yahweh, I want to know the truth, show it to me’ and He ends up showing it alright, in a big way. =)
    *
    *
And that’s what I did concerning this subject. All you need is your Bible and some basic history about Judaism and you can easily see that Yahshua was not born December 25th, or even in the winter season.
    *
    *
There were gods who were born on December 25th but it sure wasn’t the Messsiah.
    *
    *
“Well if JESUS wasn’t born December 25th, when was He born smarty pants?’ you may be saying…
    *
The Feast of Tabernacles / Sukkot which are fall (normally around September) holidays.
    Here’s my proof….
    *
    *
    * During Yahweh’s birth, shepherds were tending their flocks in the field, at night (Luke 2:8).
That alone rules out His birth in the winter.
The time of pasturing in Palestine, begins (according to Talmudists) in March, and lasts till November, when the herds are brought in from the fields and kept under shelter till the close of February (Phillip Schaff – History of the Christian Church).
The flocks are indoors during December because it’s too cold.
    *
    *
    * It is most likely Yahshua was conceived on Chanukah (Festival of Lights, Feast of Dedication)
Remember this fact, because it will come into play as I go on. =)
    *
    *
When John the Baptist was conceived and born plays a HUGE part in determining the general time frame of Yahshua’s birth.
    *
    *
    * Read Luke 1:5-25
When the angel, Gabriel, appeared to Zacharias as he was ministering in the Temple, it was during the ministration of Abiyah (Abia). This order of priests ministered in the Temple the eighth week of the Hebrew year according to the ordinance of 1 Chronicles 24:10 (and according to the Talmud). The eighth week transverses the last week of the second Hebrew month of Iyar and the first week of the third Hebrew month of Sivan, which culminates at Shavuot (Pentecost). This is the anchor point for discovering the exact time of Messiah Yeshua’s birth. The angel promised Zachariah that his prayer had been answered, and when he went home to his wife Elizabeth she conceived. This puts the conception of John the Baptist very near the time of Shavuot, the Feast of Pentecost, in the second week of the month of Sivan, the third Hebrew month.
    *
    *
*At the close of the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary. Gabriel told Mary about Elizabeth, saying “she who was called barren is six months pregnant,” This would be the last of the ninth Hebrew month called Kislev at the time of Chanukah. There are 27 weeks weeks between the end of discourse of Abiyah and the start of Chanukah (Dedication), which is celebrated eight days, from Kislev 25 to Tevet 2.
Mary accepts the word of the angel concerning the conception of Messiah in her, and she goes to the home of Elizabeth and Zachariah.
Upon Mary’s greeting to Elizabeth, Elizabeth responds to Mary, calling her “the mother of my LORD”. This proves that Mary was already pregnant with Yahshua. Thus, Yeshua was conceived at Chanukah, the Festival of Lights, for He is the Light of the World.
    *
    *
    * Read Luke1:56-80
Mary stayed with Elizabeth for 3 months, which was until the birth of John
    .
Since a full pregnancy term is 41 weeks, and 27 weeks makes up the first six months (two trimesters), which is exactly the time from the discourse of Abiyah to Chanukah, that leaves 14 weeks to accomplish the last trimester and bring the pregnancy to full term. There are exactly 14 weeks from Chanukah to Passover.
John the Baptist was born at Passover.
He was circumcised on the eighth day, which would be the last day of Passover/Feast of Unleavened Bread.
    *
    *
*Nisan , when John was born, is the 1st month of the Hebrew year.
Mary conceived 6 months after Elizabeth conceived, which means Yeshua’s birth would have to come 6 months after John’s birth, during the 7th Hebrew month called Tishri.
Since we know that John was born at Passover/Feast of Unleavened Bread, we learn the time of Yeshua’s birth by counting 6 Hebrew months from Passover.
The Feast of Unleavened Bread begins on Nisan 15 and 6 months later Tabernacles begins on Tishri 15.
Yahshua was born on the first day of Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles).
    *
    *
*The Feast of Tabernacles — Take a look at Leviticus 23: 34-43. It’s awesome and you will see how it all ties in!
YHWH commanded that Israel should observe it 8 days. They were to build temporary dwellings called a sukkah (booths) and dwell in them.
These sukkahs were erected to house families with some bare comforts and food for the eight days. Food was placed in a stall or a crib for storage in the tabernacle. The KJV Bible calls this food crib a manger.
Yeshua was not born in a barn, but rather in a temporary tabernacle which had been built for the celebration.

This celebration would explain why there wasn’t any room at the inn. It’s because folks had come from all over to observe this Feast and had taken all the rooms.

    * An AWESOME tidbit of info…turn with me to John 1:14. It says “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth”.
That world “dwelt”, in the Greek means:

to fix one’s tabernacle, have one’s tabernacle, abide (or live) in a tabernacle (or tent), tabernacle
    to dwell
Pretty cool, eh? =) He was made flesh and tabernacled among us. HalleluYAH!
    *
    *
    * One last AWESOME tidbit before I close. We are going to be keeping the Feast of Tabernacles in the New Kingdom.
Turn with me to Zechariah 14: 16-19.
” And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King; the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.
And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles”.

“Jesus is the Reason for the Season?” Our Saviour and His birth have nothing to do with Christmas.
Would you like someone celebrating your birthday, when it’s not your birthday at all?
The Feast of Tabernacles / Sukkot is about celebrating His birth, celebrate His glorious coming then, in the fall.
    *
    *
“Keep Christ in Christmas!” He has NOTHING to do with Christmas my friends. You do know Christmas is nothing more than a pagan holiday that’s been “Christianized”, right?
Celebrate the day if you want, but let’s stop dragging our Messiah into a pagan holiday.
Why not do a search and find out how Christmas originated.
It’s a known fact that the early church did not have anything to do with “Christmas”. That “holiday” didn’t come into the Roman church till the 4th century.
Our Saviour’s birth got sucked into all that mess which has now morphed into the Christmas that we know today.
So, my question to you is, will you keep celebrating a day that Yahshua was not born on and has nothing to do with, or will you take the time to do your own research like I have and get to the heart of the matter.
    *
Time is running out friends. It’s time you seek the Truth out while you can.
    *
Yahshua will show you the Truth if you will let Him. Will you let Him?
We as Christians need to quit justifying and distorting truth from fables.

I didn’t post this to look down my nose at anyone who celebrates Christmas (thought I would get that in there before somebody told me I was “judging” or “condemning” them, because I am not).
I am showing you the facts and TRUTH of a Biblical subject. You can take it, study up more on it or leave it. Your choice.
It’s high time we wake out of our slumber satan has cast upon us. I am just ringing the warning bell in hopes to wake us up.

Jeremiah 10 is a reminder from Yahweh to “Learn not the way of the heathen”…it goes hand in hand with Mark 7:9 – ” And He (JESUS) said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of GOD, that ye may keep your own tradition”.

  • Excellent post, I believe what you have posted here is true and I agree 100%. Thank you for posting this Kristin, your labors to educate are not in vain. :0)

    in Jesus Forever,

  • Absolutely, sister.

And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (2 Timothy 4:4)
But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. (1 Timothy 4:7)

We are not to blend paganism with the Way. The bride of Christ must not commit adultery with idols and false gods.

For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. (2 Corinthians 11:2-4)

Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. (James 4:4)

If we serve the gospel, we must do so in Truth, for yeshua IS the Way, the Truth, and the Life!

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:24)
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (John 8:32)

Many accept that christmas has nothing to do with Yeshua and yet continue to take part in this thinly veiled pagan feast. The Truth is freely available, and I pray that all who read your entry today will not only acknowledge the Truth, but act accordingly, for knowledge that remains unacted upon is knowledge rejected..

Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that tarry late into the night, till wine inflame them! And the harp and the lute, the tabret and the pipe, and wine, are in their feasts; but they regard not the work of Jehovah, neither have they considered the operation of his hands. Therefore my people are gone into captivity for lack of knowledge; and their honorable men are famished, and their multitude are parched with thirst. Therefore Sheol hath enlarged its desire, and opened its mouth without measure; and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth among them, descend into it. (Isaiah 5:11-14)

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I also will forget thy children. (Hosea 4:6)

Yeshua’s peace be with you and with all reading!

  • I knew some of this, but loved your post.  Also, even though I am not a practicing Christian, I still plan to celebrate Jesus at Christmas.

  • Jesus was born April 6th.

  • @AOK4WAY - AMEN Brother AMEN

  • When I was a kid, my parents would always try to have a party for my birthday on the weekend that fell nearest the actual day – because parties in the middle of the week, are a lot more stressful (you have to work around school schedules and all of that stuff).  Sometimes, though, it would even be two or three weeks earlier or later, depending on what other activities we had going on at the time.

I never felt like my birthday was any more or less important if it was celebrated on the actual day, or when another day was set aside to recognize it.

  • I’ve been thinking on this a lot lately. I can’t say “Jesus is the Reason” anymore because of it. I’ll still enjoy my family’s traditions (I just made some gingerbread)… lol Informative post!

  • @lonelywanderer2 - My friend, nothing has given me greater cause to rejoice than the statement I’m replying to! Yeshua (Jesus) certainly is worth celebrating! But his birth is not what makes the celebration worthwhile! It is how his life ended and continued that makes Yeshua something for all men to celebrate!

But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not. For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. (1 Corinthians 15:13-20)

He is the God who created all, friend, perfect in sovereignty, terrible in power, become man. And He did it so that we could become His children and inherit His Kingdom, which is to say all that is. Contemplate that the next time you look up into the starry night sky! It’s all ours by inheritance!

For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. (Hebrews 2:10)

  • @AOK4WAY - You are right.  It is his entire life, including  his death, that is celebrated, and not only at Christmas, but all the time.

  • @AOK4WAY - where is a rec for comments ….amen again brother

  • Most of this I had already heard/read/been told but it’s very compelling to see it all pulled together to tell the story.  There was a time when I defended Christmas by saying that any celebration of Christ, no matter whether it was on his true birthday or not, could not be wrong.  Of course, I was saying this because I didn’t want to relinquish the celebration of Christmas which had been my most favorite time of year.  Between this, Kristin, and some of the things written and explained by Aok4way I’ve now totally changed my feeling on the matter.  What a sacrilege it is to utilize the pagan rituals and the pagan traditions to “celebrate” the birth of our Lord.  We no longer celebrate Christmas in our house, though we do of course celebrate Jesus each and every day. It’s posts like this and the ones Aok4way posts that help to educate even people like me who thought we had it all figured out!  I thank you both.

  • I really enjoyed this post and I’m glad that I found your site. My name is Kristen too, so I just had to click. :)

  • We discussed this in a class I took. My prof explained that the time Christmas is really held was actually a pagan holiday celebrating the god Saturn. A lot of the accepted traditions with Christmas- feasting, gift exchange, etc.,- were actually taken from this pagan celebration. I found it quite interesting.

    I like this post, too!

  • I am curious to the Christians here.  Why is it that its always held in December?  I mean, most Christians I know seem to bring this up every year, but if they know this, why don’t people get together and try to change the time its celebrated.  It might be fun.  Plus, it would be funny watching businesses scramble to change the date of their black Friday and everything.  Do most people continue to celebrate during December because its easier than changing the date to a more accurate time?

  • Do you know what time of the year, baby lambs are born? One might think it would be spring time, but I actually wanted to know for sure, so a couple years ago, I e-mailed the Zoo in Jerusalem and asked them. I was told mid to late December, so that by the time that the babies were weaned off the mother’s milk, spring would be there, which would give nice green shoots for the babies to eat. is it that far off, to think that God, sent our Passover lamb, to be born during lambing season?

I want to disagree with this post, on the issue as to why there was no room in the inn. The post talks about there not being any room in the inn because it was the time for the Feast of Tabernancles. However, the Bible says that Joseph and Mary did not go up to Bethleham because of the Feast, but because there was a census. they went up to be counted. If it was the time of the Feast, don’t you think that the Bible would have recorded such? The Bible talks about Jesus doing things or going up to Jerusalem for the passover, or the Feast of the Dedication, but in this instance, the Bible only mentions the census.

Further proof that they did not go up for the Feast of Tabernancles, can be found in the fact they went to Bethleham, not Jerusalem. If it were the Feast, they would have gone to Jerusalem, because God commanded offerings to be given each day of the feast. 35On the first day shall be a holy convocation; you shall not do any ordinary work. 36For seven days you shall present food offerings to the LORD. On the eighth day you shall hold a holy convocation and present a food offering to the LORD. It is a solemn assembly; you shall not do any ordinary work.” (Lev 23:35,36 KJV)

So, if I were to go up for the Feast, and I had to be at the temple every day for 8 days, Why would I go to a town that is 6 miles away? That is 12 miles that I would have to walk or ride on a donkey, every day round trip. That seems like an aweful long walk or ride for a 9 month pregnant lady to do every day. I think it would be easier to just go straight to Jerusalem and the temple.

So, they did not go up for the Feast, as the Bible does not record them doing so, and they missed Jerusalem and the temple by a good 6 miles. But the Bible does say, that they went to Bethleham for a census. I admit, it would make for a great piece of Biblical knowledge, if Christ were born during the Feast of Tabernancles. But we have no proof of that. We do have a little bit of proof that God might have sent His son during the time of the lambing, when Lambs would have been born for the Passover and other celebrations. Not to mention that if it was near the festival of lights, which was a time that the Jews exchanged gifts, God would have been sending the real Lamb, the real Light of the world, and a truely awesome gift into the world.

So I maintain, that Jesus was sent, during or before Hanukkah, possibly on the 25th of December, and not during the Feast of Tabernancles.

  • @ProudToBeAChristianFruitcake - Many Biblical scholars have argued from time to time that December 25th was not the actual birth date of Christ. It was just adopted as a day to celebrate the birth of Christ as a Christian substitute to the Roman festival Saturnalia in the third century. Saturnalia was celebrated as the Feast of Sun and was actually considered the birth date of the Sun God of the Romans. Catholic priests held a special mass that day for Christ and thus, it came to be known as ‘Christ-mass’ or ‘Christmas’.

Luke 2:8 says, “And there were in the same country [the vicinity of Bethlehem] shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.” In Biblical times, the farmers used to hire shepherds in the late summer and early fall to keep their flocks in his field overnight as the manure of the cattle acted as a fertilizer for their fields.

  • December 25th has absolutely no biblical foundation as a day of Christian worship.

  • Christmas is honoring with the lips but it is one of many vain doctrines and commandments of men. Again, there is not a single scripture in the bible that tells us that we are to celebrate the birth nor the resurrection of Yahushua the Messiah. Let alone in a pagan way!

So yes, I do believe we must question these traditions that have been handed down to this generation even though few dare to. Many Christians speak against the Catholic traditions of Lent, Ash Wednesday, etc. but fail to recognize that the same types of pagan elements exist in the celebration of Christmas and Easter!

  • At first I refused to read this post because I thought it was inflammatory and decrying the Catholic Church’s decision many centuries ago to designate, symbolically, that Dec 25th be Christ Jesus’s birth — but it’s exceedingly helpful in a debate with a friend about Jesus’s actual birth!  Now if we could only figure out the actual year… I could kick his butt in the friendly-fire argument!

  • You have opened a very controversial subject, Kristen!  Our family has not celebrated the Mass of the Christ Child for over 30 years, for many of the reasons given in the videos you posted — and also because Yeshua did not command us to celebrate His birth.  He commanded us to remember His death and resurrection in the Communion when we gather with Believers (not with bunnies and eggs and not only at Passover), but not His birth. He commanded us to ”learn not the way of the heathen” (Jeremiah 10).  But rather than having endless debate on whether we celebrate or not, we need to remember Romans 14:5.

  • I agree 100 % with all of this. Excellent post. GBU
