My husband and I have been working on designing a tattoo. We are talking about getting it done sometime within the next year. We will both most likely get this tattoo.
I love it. It is exactly what I want.
Here it is
What do you think? Do you have any tattoos? What are they?

this is the second blog I’ve read about xanga tattoos today, and I’ve got to link the one from carolinamuscle if only just for a laugh for you (but it will also make you think!)
I LIKE the tattoo, don’t get me wrong, I do like it! And I saw your pic the other day, love it! Didn’t link one of me because I post my new face pics on here so much I’m sure ppl get sick of it.
here’s the link to which I refer: (I told him I’m sending you, don’t miss his vid at the bottom it’s so funny!) http://carolinamuscle.xanga.com/750989860/think-before-you-ink/
Wooow! I like it.
My first tattoo was Italian for “I love you” – Ti amo. The artist botched it up so bad though. It faded before it even healed, so the nest year (it was winter and on my foot) I went and got it touched up and it faded again before it healed! On top of that the guy told me it was a fucking stupid tattoo and he shouldn’t have showed up the day he did it. He should have just taken my deposit and ran, blah blah. He also made fun of a girl, who I knew, that had just recently (like within days) committed suicide. After that I just couldn’t look at my tattoo the same. Everytime I looked at it I would get mad. Everytime someone would ask about it I’d feel compelled to tell the horrible story I had of that artist. So I got it covered up with my dog’s paw prints! I love the paw prints and went to a new artist who is super sweet. I need one more session to completely cover the old one because it was green and you can still kind of see it through the black because she tried making it look real and missed a few spots with a lighter shade of gray. I hope to get more but everyone is so critical of my tattoos and I just don’t have the confidence to stand up to anyone right now. I’m also terrified that the artist will fuck up and I’ll have an ugly tattoo like I did the first time. So I want more, I just don’t know if I’ll ever get them.
I’d be afraid to get a tattoo like yours, proclaiming atheism. I tend to get enough shit from my conservative catholic family just for the tattoo I have. That would be a shock to them hahaha.
My partner has a tattoo above her left breast.. It said “Jan”. Later, it said “Joy”. After we fell in love I thought she should change it to “Judy”. It would be pretty easy. She said no, that was enough with that tattoo and she never has changed it since. We’ve been together thirty years. I hardly even notice it anymore.
Nice.
I have had a Jesus fish tattoo on my right back shoulder since 1996. Got it before my trip to Colombia.
M has same in same place. She got it a couple of years ago for her
birthday.
We talked about getting rebel alliance long ago,
but can’t see myself spending money on that with money tight as it is now
That is an awesome tat … I may just steal that!
(sans butterfly, I’d personalize that with … oh, I really don’t know yet!) I’d put the words in Irish (FĂric Roimh Creideamh) if they weren’t so long. O.o Maybe German (Faktum Vor Vertrauen) .. hmm … Latin! (Res Antea Fides … or would that be Res Prius Fides … sounds like a car in there, doesn’t it). You know, I really like English …
I got one yeeeaars ago when it wasn’t seemly for women to get pierced ears let alone a tattoo. It’s a rose with a dagger through it and a snake wrapped around the hilt; the initials of my kids are worked into the design and you’d have to know they’re there to see them. My mototcycle also has snakes on it – all my own designs though I had to have professionals do the work.
@nurseynursey - omg I love your name.
I’ve known so many people who put names on themselves and lived to regret it so I can see why your partner was reticent to change ‘joy’ .. which is a very nice word. I couldn’t bring myself to even put my children’s names on me … or mother .. lol. That which encapsulates a loved one would be preferable, I think … and perhaps ‘joy’ said it all for your partner.
Spiffy. I should get mine this summer.
I like your design very much. I have one tattoo that I got many years ago, a pentagram from back when I practiced wicca. It’s on my left shoulder and very simple, only black ink. I’ve thought long and hard about how to have it altered, what would be easiest and look best, and I’ve decided to go with a dreamcatcher to represent my Native-American heritage. Hoping to have it done in the next year or so.
Love it. Yes I have a tat on my lower back that says, “we shall overcome, with a pot leaf.” I was a child of the 60s and still have the tat to prove it.
My hubby designed a cool tat for himself… It’s a sword with “love” and “war” that can be read as one or the other depending on which way you’re reading it from. I like writing that does two words. No tat for me yet.
@Tymedancer_is_Grannyinboxers – awesome.
@suzibikerbabe - Do you know I never thought of the tatoo as meaning JOY but for all these years was just kind of pissed off that she had another woman’s name above her breast. Thank you so much for that comment. We are always seeking joy and it’s been here all the time! Blessings!
@nurseynursey - {{{hugs!}}}
I have a tattoo on my hip of a claddagh. My best friend and I got matching tattoos on our 13th anniversary of friendship. Pay the extra money and visit a great tattoo artist. You’ll have it for a life time.
how big would it be? and where? @Grannys_Place - OH that’s awesome, you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@DivaJyoti - on my upper arm. Pretty big lol
@Kristenmomof3 - 5 inches tall, say?
@DivaJyoti - more like 4
I’m covered, many of them are spiritual, warriors, initials, tribal stuff, stuff like that.
@ctaretz -
That’s perfect for you, and it’s really meaningful because your husband helped you design it. The butterfly is a beautiful symbol of the tremendous metamorphosis the two of you have undergone together over the last two years or so. When you have it done, please post pix!
That’s neat
I just got my nose pierced this past Saturday; now I’ve got piercing fever and I want a tattoo or two, lol.
