  • Hm, roughly 309 million people, and 275 000 charities losing tax exempt status? I wonder how many charities are still there. The cca. 1 charity w/o tax exemption per every 1124 citizens makes me wonder how many of those were legitimate charities, how many were one time fundraising things and how many were scams. Looking at some of the lists it seems to be a nice mix of all three, with quite a few names indicating the second category.

  • whoa….i had no clue. And I looked at the list to find my parent’s non-profit organization on there. Looks like i have some news to break. Thank you for this.

  • @hevcoh - Yeah, I was wondering why so many were being revoked but then I looked at the list…

  • All of the Michigan American Legion, their auxiliaries, and the disabled vets divisions lost their tax exempt status… Huh, as have the Fraternal Order of Police, the Knights of Columbus, a bunch of college fraternities, and the Masons.

    Erm.

  • Holy shit what’s next.
