  • Don’t Box me in

    Gender.

You’re born either a boy or a girl, right?

It can seem so cut and dry to many of us… But if we look closer, at others (and sometimes even at ourselves), gender can be much more complicated. Much more interesting. Much more.

But Gender is something that is rarely spoken of in our culture.

  • Wow. Thank you for sharing. :)

  • Pretty cool.  Lucy/Benji is very well spoken- I love the specific choices in vocabulary.  I love people that speak very precisely.  I envy them!

I have always felt that society does try to box people into genders and gender roles.  I mean, go in the baby section of any store- pink for girls, blue for boys.  I don’t think these stereotypes ought to be forced upon a person.  I tend to enjoy things or feel things that are attributed with the male gender- and I don’t think that is fair.

However, you also have to consider that for most intensive purposes I think the goal of the question “male or female?’ on applications or surveys have to do with what gender you are physically. I don’t know that the goal is to force someone to adhere to one or the other.  I don’t think it is in the spirit of limiting people.

    Just my 2 cents :)
