  • Mother Charged In Quadruple Killings

Susan Hendricks, 48, has been charged in the death of her sons, Marshall Wayne Hendricks, 20, and Matthew Wayne Hendricks, 23, her ex-husband, Mark Wayne Hendricks, 52, and her stepmother, Linda Ann Burns, 64.

Immediately after the four deaths, three had been determined to be homicides, but the results of tests and forensics were needed before Matthew Hendricks’ death was also determined to be a homicide.

Investigators said Hendricks had tried to make it appear that Matthew killed the others and then himself, but forensics indicated otherwise.

The apparent motive was life insurance

Her original statement was that her oldest son was on drugs and suicidal. She framed her son. He didn’t kill them and he didn’t kill himself either. She murdered all 4.

Her public statement last week was very Christian-like:
“On behalf of my family and I, we would like to thank the community for their prayers and concern for the four lives lost on Friday morning. However, due to the magnitude and overwhelming grief we are experiencing, we ask that our privacy be respected. We are trying our best to process what has happened, make necessary arrangements, and deal with our tremendous loss. We pray for understanding and peace during our difficult time. Thank you.”

She had the community’s sympathy because of her religion. They tend to think that a believer in their god would not be capable of such acts. After she was proven to be the killer, they think she was never a “true Christian” to begin with.

Susan Hendricks has been charged with four counts of murder and four counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime. On a side note, this isn’t the first time Susan Hendricks has killed someone. In 2006, she shot and killed a man she said was an intruder. Investigators determined it was self-defense and she was never charged. The case of the 2006 shooting is being re-opened and looked at.
