Something I read this morning
I woke up to this one this morning (didn’t see it last night)
@Kristenmomof3 – You’ve changed your religious beliefs, your friends, and your take on political issues so many times that giving anything you say here any credit is about as worthwhile as farting down-wind of yourself.
I really miss the times when you were a rabid enforcer of the Mosaic laws. I miss those 2,000 word postings of Old Testament scriptures, and I really miss how you used to bash Atheists, and liberals. But now, I guess you think you’ve got a better chance fitting in with that crowd instead. That’s fine. We all need friends…
But most of all, I miss your burqa clad days. Good grief, Sinead, cover that thing up.

I think what they’re saying about you AND @DivaJyoti is fucking disgusting. You are BOTH my friends and I HATE seeing my friends treated that way! Yep, they say we atheists are the immoral ones. I’m not running around expecting people to excuse my failings because a magic man in the sky sent part of himself to become a zombie for me…”your God forgives you; it doesn’t mean I will”.
Let it roll down your back, Kristen. I love you and a lot of other people here do too, and did even before you left your religion behind.
How ironic that they inadvertantly proved everything in your last post…
Oh, and one more thing; by my count you only changed your views once – when you became atheist. You had some growing pains, but everyone who goes from one belief system to another or to none at all, experiences that. Like everything else, it’s a journey. Your credibility is intact.
From what I’ve seen, that person is a troll.
You’re not running for political office. You are allowed to flipflop. You are a human. Humans grow and change. I think it’s great that you have experienced many facades and perspectives in life. It will likely grant you more open-mindedness and empathy towards those of different mindsets in the future. Good for you for finding who you are in the end.
Constantly, time after time, on this blog, you take shots at Christians. You post things taking shots at their intelligence, taking shots at things that you know they hold dear. You like to focus on anything negative about Christianity or tied to Christianity that you can find. You allow comments from your readers filled with acid hatred and bitter rage towards Christians. But when anything of that sort comes your way you want to cry fowl. I guess you think that’s what Christians are here for, for you and your buddies to continually dump on. As Christians, if they are good ones, they will never say anything back because they are not allowed to be human. In the midst of all your rantings about how atheists are moral, you still hold a higher standard for Christians. There is a level of hypocrisy there.
I always find interesting comming to your blog even when I have nothing to comment I appreciate the effort you do to prove your points and voice your opinions. If people can’t handle different takes well too bad for them I have never felt personally attacked by your opinions in your blog. People say mean things about everyone here and it’s kind’a sad to know someone I care for is involved in spreading hostility around. I’m so sorry for what he said and I apologize for him
@mtngirlsouth - its okay to hate Christians because our religious beliefs make us a barrier to the progressive’s march to power.
What this all boils down to is that Progressives just can’t stand several ideas behind the Christian Faith. The first is the fact that there is a being who is greater than they are, it doesn’t fit the narcissistic tenancies of many people in this modern age. The second deals with the fact that Christianity is hard and progressives are lazy. To be a Christian requires you to be responsible, something many of this generation and of course the progressives just cannot stand. What I find ironic is that they mock our religion and denounce it, then like the hypocrites that they are, they are only too happy to use our customs to satisfy their self centered needs. I find it odd that all these people who hate Christianity always seem to take December 25th off from work. If you are not a Christian it is just another day, why would you take it off, you should be at work.
So like all progressive tendencies, the bashing of Christians is all about the progressive tendency towards bigotry and laziness.
You know, I would be okay with the comment about changing beliefs, since it’s obviously a recognition of your ability to create a solid argument for whatever you believe, which I think is a compliment.
But “good grief Sinead, cover that thing up?” Low, mean, ad hominem attack. I am disgusted by that.
@mtngirlsouth - there is also a level of hypocrisy in claiming moral high ground and then resorting to playground taunts. I like you, and I know you’re smart–surely you can see what’s wrong with ad hominem attacking someone?
I think you and I have proven that two people can vehemently disagree without one calling the other ugly.
Furthermore, posting things that reject not only a former belief system but also a hypocritical and illegitimate power structure (as we all recognize the corporate church so often is) does not constitute an ad hominem attack on followers of that belief system.
For shame, Sam. Don’t defend someone just because they’re your friend–call them out for inappropriate behavior.
@opticalnoise - First of all, what he said was not “un” Christian. The last part was a joke. Between him making a simple joke like that, and the things Kristen has posted here taking shots at my beliefs, and me for having them, it isn’t hard which one is crueler. “posting things that reject not only a former belief system but also a hypocritical and illegitimate power structure (as we all recognize the corporate church so often is) does not constitute an ad hominem attack on followers of that belief system” I would think it would show an agreement with them. Especially when there is no disclaimer. And a lot of the videos she has posted take shots.
@mtngirlsouth - Christians claim the higher ground, so they should act on that. If they can’t then they shouldn’t be attacking anyone and calling them immoral. We’re not saying you can’t be human, certain christians are saying they’re better than us as humans, but still stoop lower to personal insults. We’re trying to hold people to what they say, and they’re crying fowl, not us.
Defending this kind of behavior is a misguided belief that there is some kinship because of your religious beliefs, I think, and that ignores the real problems with this.
@RealistFantasies - He simply called her out on past behavior. The most ironic thing about this, is it happened on Paige’s blog about agnophilo, who I know from personal experience, loves to twist things and say mean things to people of faith. None of you call him out on that, while you say that you all have all these morals. But if I let someone who is Christian slide a little bit, and I really don’t think what he said was even all that bad, you all think it is wrong of me. What you do, is claim that my beliefs are not real, that you have just as much morals and all that, but you still hold me to a higher standard than you do yourselves. Basically, even from this comment to me, you want to say whatever to Christians, and you want Christians to not ever say anything back. That is a form of bullying, and I guess that’s why it irks me so much.
I think it’s goofy to attack somebody for what they say on their own blog. I’m not saying that we shouldn’t disagree, just that we shouldn’t make comments that are actually blogs. That’s what our own page is for.
@mtngirlsouth - huh, it didn’t seem like a joke to me, coming on the heels of a couple of paragraphs saying Kris wasn’t worth listening to because there’s been a paradigm shift.
I’m not saying that I agree with everything Kris has posted about Christians and Christianity, but I don’t think responding with personal insults about appearance is the appropriate way to handle it. In fact, Sam, I rather appreciate the approach I generally see you take, which is to respond to the actual argument rather than dismissing someone for having once thought something different and then insulting how they look.
Just sayin.
@mtngirlsouth - the reality of people not agreeing with your beliefs and saying they’re not real isn’t bullying. thats the problem with what you think about this. you think we’re picking on you for saying your beliefs are incorrect in some way, but we’re not. saying we don’t agree with your beliefs isn’t a personal insult, the end of the comment mentioned in the post is a personal insult on her appearance which is uncalled for, unnecessary, rude, and IS bullying.
@opticalnoise - It is just the fact that constantly on this blog, there are much more hateful things posted in videos and said in the comments than anything he said. But she has a problem with what he said. It’s a double standard.
@RealistFantasies - That was not what I was saying was bullying. The bullying part is your expectation that Christians never defend themselves. That makes YOU a bully. And there have been MANY things posted on this blog which are4 personally insulting to Christians.
http://www.glaad.org/programs/faith?gclid=CJuIju-1160CFWkZQgod5AIZGQ
Yes. The bible belt apparently represents all of CHristianity.
http://www.gaychurch.org/
Yeaup. Christians are taught since the day of birth to behead anyone who doesn’t follow the norms of their community.
http://www.gaychurch.org/Find_a_Church/find_a_church.htm
It’s so bad, you can’t find a church in your area that’s something you might feel close with.
Silly Christians. What are they doing for Xanga?
@mtngirlsouth - christianity=/=christians. they are not the same.
the expectation is not that you don’t defend yourself when you feel that we’re wrong, the expectation is that you maintain the respect and morality you maintain christians hold that we don’t. the expectation is for you (the general you) not to be hypocritical. the expectation is that if you have reasons for your beliefs and can give us reasons, you should be able to do so without resorting to personal attacks. we’re not bullies for disagreeing and for giving reasons for disagreeing.
@mtngirlsouth - I see what you’re saying. I try to call out whenever I see things crossing the line here or in other places, so I totally get where you’re coming from. I just think that saying “its stupid to believe things for which there is no compelling evidence” is different than saying “you’re ugly nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah.” That’s all I’m saying.
I don’t have a problem with pointing out that Kris used to believe and vehemently defend Christianity, so obviously the belief was compelling enough at one point. I do have a problem with insulting how someone looks because you don’t like how they handled themselves.
@RealistFantasies - Why do you not see comments taking shots at intelligence, strength of character, ability to reason and logic as personal? This blog links to Paige’s blog defending herself. She did not make any personal attacks, yet she is wrong for defending herself. Basically, it is okay for you, but not for Christians. If you do not even believe that there is anything real about Christianity, why do you then turn around and use it as a standard to judge by? On the one hand, you say it is not real. But on the other hand, you want to rely on it for a standard. And then you say that Christians are on some moral high ground, when in reality, they just claim to know Christ. Not that they are super human and no longer do wrong. But that is the standard you want to hold them to, and any time they do anything that you can find fault in, you want to focus in that. If you really think there is nothing to it, why do you them make such a big deal about it when you think they are not living up to your version of their standards? For something you claim not to believe, you seem to think you know all about how it ought to be lived out.
@mtngirlsouth - ignoring paige’s blog “defending herself” because she’s a hypocrite and i don’t read her blogs anymore so i have no idea what she’s referring to.
but no, i don’t see blogs making fun of or insulting christians, i see blogs disagreeing with christianity which is still not and will never be the same thing.
@opticalnoise - @RealistFantasies - AgainstTheWind1 said to tell you all, “I can’t comment on that site right now (driving) but let them know I’ve asked you to back off because I don’t want you losing friends over me or something and let them know they can come to me themselves if they have a problem… I’d much rather they attack me than you.”
@obamawatch - So, what you’re saying is that everyone who doesn’t believe in God are narcissistic, lazy, and irresponsible? That’s a long shot. I’m sorry that most people can’t blindly follow something they can’t prove is real. Where’s your proof? Where are your credible sources? The Bible? Please. Go preach somewhere else.
Anyway, every person has to find themselves eventually. You found who you are now. Don’t let these crazy people upset or offend you. They’re not worth it.
What we’re most interested in is how exactly does one go about farting downwind of oneself?

P.S. — TFE sends his love.
Some people in this comment section (and on xanga, it seems) just go around pointing fingers at the other person. Grown ups can handle constructive criticism (or they should) but there is a BIG difference between that and just being plain mean and childish. For what it’s worth, I don’t think I’ve seen mean and childish things on your blog.
Yeah, totally irrelevant to anything that was said. And unnecessary.
@mtngirlsouth - I tried to submit this comment earlier but it wouldn’t go through. I sincerely hope I didn’t come across as attacking you, that wasn’t my intent at all and I’m sorry if I came across that way.
@opticalnoise - No, you didn’t.
@mtngirlsouth - Oh good. I do love you, you know.
@opticalnoise - I love you too.
LOL, who could disagree with that pulse? Most people on Xanga are morons. If somebody had any sort of IQ or intelligent preoccupation they wouldn’t be on Xanga. *flips on Jersey Shore* at least that’s why I’m here!
@CrazySwede - @ZombieMom_Speaks - @mtngirlsouth - @opticalnoise - http://api.ning.com/files/Bdzcrphii39rVhmuGFyIdZv-URZBQplbg*FTTlyGQ3GVXznUIjEXuUfxKTZR08*4S5bezn0Q8ukmoft02ISrAzGwbppNlLOQ/WhenpeopleaskwhyIhaveaproblemwithreligionitshardtocomeupwithasingleanswer.jpg
@Kristenmomof3 - Really? I mean, really? So, here again, all religion is bad. Right? Dangerous? And when people point to atheist leaders who have done terrible things, that’s not the same though, right? See, this whole notion. This blog. The concepts you are pushing. Real true Christians aren’t supposed to say anything unkind to you. From your perspective, this is what you expect. But you can bash them all day long. And their faith is supposed to tie their hands so to speak in coming back with anything. Kind of like beating on someone who is tied up. It really says a lot about your character.
This whole thing has made me really sad. I always feel like I have to defend my beliefs here. All the orphanages, hospitals, schools and soup kitchens don’t matter. All you are interested in is the bad stuff. The stuff that you can point to that makes you feel justified in leaving the faith. Meanness is only noticed when it is from a religious person. If it is from an atheist it is understandable and acceptable. It is wrong for atheists to be made to feel as if they need to defend their position, but every Christian must answer for the bad things you focus on. “Hey Christians, is that how the bible says you are supposed to talk to people??? Are you being “Christ like”??? Such a great witness people.” I disagree with you, but I don’t hold you accountable for anything other than what you yourself have done. You don’t believe. Fine. For some reason, you must constantly every other blog, post about how awful my core beliefs are. How stupid. How illogical. And all your buddies chime in and agree. If that is what you need to feel good, or better, then more power to ya. But there is no need for me to come and see. Your anger about my faith is a fine barrier. I am not the type to beg you to forgive me for believing, or for all the bad you see in it. So, I guess it is best we just part ways. Your blogs like this bring out the worst in me, and just spread negativity all around. And it probably does harm to you in that it makes you feel even more justified in turning your back on the faith. I am not even sure you can come back anyway, but either way, my coming here seems to be a bad idea all around. So, goodbye.
@mtngirlsouth - That’s why, 99% of the time, I tend to avoid this blog (only came after your shared comment). I don’t owe anyone an explanation for my beliefs, especially people who have proven time and time again that they aren’t going to respect what I believe or that I even believe it.
@Garistotle - Exactly. Precisely.
@Garistotle - woooohoooo I feel so loved
@mtngirlsouth -
“In the midst of all your rantings about how atheists are moral, you still hold a higher standard for Christians.”
because you guys are the ones running around claiming you, and ONLY you, have gotten “it” right. if you don’t want to be held to a higher standard, don’t place yourself on a pedestal, and then try to tell us what horrible people we are simply for not being Christian and agreeing with every single thing you say.
Seriously?! This whole argument is POINTLESS. I am so tired of this ‘war’ between the Christians and the non Christians.
Every Christian makes mistakes, every non believer makes mistakes. We are NEVER going to agree….and if you say mean things, people are going to call you out. Period.
Honestly, none of us have ANY business trying to decide who is a ‘real christian’ or who is the most moral atheist. And the xangans who don’t have anything better to do than try to make those judgments, really just shouldn’t have any followers, because they are ignorant. If they stop getting the attention and controversy they will eventually shut the hell up and let the rest of us be.
If you KNOW that you disagree with someone on EVERY level…..WHY are you even wasting your time talking to them, much less sending them hateful messages. STFU.
@Kristenmomof3 - There are parts of that which moved me to tears.
