  • It’s not that simple.
But I know you know scriptures and philosophy, science etc.
I’m not going to waste your time.

Not really related but interesting discussion last night Was talking with mArk last night about how fickle relationships can be; how we forget goodness of others, how we can take people for granted etc. How our emotions can make us hate or think less of somebody and then later remember all the nice things they’ve done and feel all warm and appreciative.

There’s some kind of grace though whereby we forgive certain people but not others who maybe don’t even do as horrible of things to us. Often it’s because we are in relationship with them and so can understand where they are coming from we are able to empathize and understand easier. I guess for me, whether it seems ridiculous and unsubstantiated, God is like that best friend who never gives up on me; who always finds a way to forgive no matter what. Not because I deserve it but bc He loves me unconditionally somehow; He is committed forever.
When I thought I was losing faith God just kept being there anyway, showing up, pervading my thoughts, encouraging me to seek Him even though I felt I could no longer trust or understand as I once had.
I couldn’t run from Him. I’m still not to where I once was, but He comforts me and helps me not fear as much, become stronger, as I once was before.

I know it sounds ludicrous ( but taio Cruz tell me how you feel. Okay kidding. Lyrics. Lol)

Anyway, I don’t want to write a big ole dissertation. You’ve heard it all before I know ( and ive heard it all from mark, dawkins, hitchens, astrophysicists too). You know what’s real and evidence you see, and neither I nor anybody else can prove God is real to you or anybody else.

Peace Sis. Thanks for loving me despite my crazy :P

  • Haha. Sry but I DID waste your time. Lol. Sorry!

  • @YouToMe – you didn’t waste my time :) you stated how you feel and why. You didn’t preach at me (that would be wasting time) you just stated how you feel and why :)

  • Thanks firefliesworth. (hugs))

    @Kristenmomof3 -

  • agreed.

now, many Christians will argue that we choose to reject God.  and i will support that, as long as it’s genuine rejection.  meaning, you have to actually BELIEVE God exists in order to reject Him.  after all, you can’t reject what isn’t there.  so while i’m sure there might be some people in existence who will still reject God after being given absolute proof that He exists, i don’t think that includes every single non-Christian.  i know in my heart that, should i have the right experiences, i could easily believe in God.  and if God is truly omnipotent, He knows that too.

  • yeah that does seem pretty damn implausible.

  • *standing ovation* haha. yes, very ridiculous.

  • Not only that, but deeply concerned about what you do with whatever is between your legs. Don’t rub one out or God – THE OMNIPOTENT, UNFATHOMABLE CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE – will be very disappointed in you. LOL!  *facepalm*

  • Let’s see, if people didn’t worship me I’d burn and torture them? Yes, that sounds about right, ask my exes.

    So what do I win?

  • Cheerleader? It’s not even worth responding to. No matter what is said, you won’t accept.

@YouToMe - I’m not going to waste your time.

    Exactly

  • @YouToMe - So, bottom line, you need an imaginary friend. *rolls eyes*

@musterion99 - [No matter what is said, you won't accept.]

Here we have a ludicrous reversal of the actual truth. YOU will not accept anything that contradicts your belief in an unprovable god. In fact, many openly admit this (“I will believe in god no matter what.”)  Some don’t admit it outright, but their actions say it clearly. You belong to that latter group. You’re an apologist, twisting and turning every piece of evidence that CLEARLY demolishes the silly belief in a personal god.

Christianity is on the decline. The desperation with which its defenders are going out of their way to spit out their nonsense when confronted with clearly fatal evidence is a sure sign.

It is said that the vast majority of people believed in religion when no one was criticizing it. Of course! Once anyone takes a second to look at the whole thing with a critical eye, it’s GODDAMNED OBVIOUS that the whole thing is nothing but a house of cards. Tsk, tsk.

I really get a kick out of apologists desperately going around spouting off their “defenses” of their faith or throwing baseless, logically fallacious attacks on atheists.  Ah, the sweet smell of desperation!! LOL!

  • @musterion99 -

Cheerleader? It’s not even worth responding to. ”

Really? The problem from evil isn’t trivial.

  • @In_Reason_I_Trust - I didn’t mean that she would agree and become a Christian. It’s a waste of time trying to explain what’s inaccurate with calling God a cheerleader and implying that is the reason for suffering eternally. And as you always say to others, don’t bother replying back.

  • @Celestial_Teapot - What does calling God a cheerleader have to do with the problem of evil?

  • Hypothetically speaking, a being could be intelligent enough to create everything yet still be a psycho jerk. An evil genius, rather.

Also, perhaps in the realm of deities creating worlds and life is on par with humans giving birth. Someone can give birth to a child then be wildly arrogant and petty about it, disowning or even murdering their children for perceived rebellious behavior. Practically any fool mortal can reproduce. Maybe any fool god can create.

I don’t believe in the Biblical god; I’m just saying that intelligence doesn’t imply a pleasant personality, and power doesn’t imply intelligence.

  • @musterion99 - God isn’t the cheerleader, mankind is, according to the picture. In this sense god is more like a quarterback.

  • @ZombieMom_Speaks - I know. I mis-wrote that but it doesn’t change what I said. What does being a cheerleader have to do with the problem of evil?

  • @musterion99 - Nothing at all. The message is that a being of such power and magnitude isn’t likely to need us to cheer on his every move or create post-mortem consequences if we don’t. I’ve been through the comments and I may have missed something, but…where did the question of evil come into this?

    @too_pretty_to_die - Exactly!

@ShimmerBodyCream - Well, you’ve convinced me. Do you like standard prayers or would you prefer an interpretive dance?

  • @musterion99 - Never mind, I just saw teapot’s comment. Sorry about that. Usually my glasses work just fine.
