  • Fagbug

Erin Davies turns a slur written on her VW beetle into awareness of gay rights. The Sage College grad student hit the road in her rechristened fagbug to raise awareness of gay rights and to speak where others had been silenced.

  • I will never understand why so many people dislike gay people.  Doesn’t make sense to me.  Sad really.

  • I wish I could watch this entire thing. Darn school. Thanks for posting this.

Incidentally: There’s a video on my blog about Aedyn Mace. You should look at The Pride Project. Some amazing art over there. :) Et, the video is NOT about the project. It’s a videotaped phone call between him and his parents, who reject him. He’s a FTM Transgender. Just to be clear about that. I do have him linked, though, as well as the Pride Project.

  • @Automaton_Emotion - heading over to your page :)

  • My husband and I were just talking about this last evening.  Why are people so terrified of homosexuality?  It’s not contagious, as far as I know.  And no lesbian has ever tried to rape me.  No gay guy has ever tried to rape him.  As for our marriage, well it’s strong enough, I’m reasonably sure, to withstand the onslaught of the possible legalization of gay marriage.  Of course, I’m not entirely sure of that, since here in PA it’s still illegal for homosexual couples to marry.  I simply don’t get it.  WHO CARES what people do consentually in bed!? Love is so hard to find.  If you find it, you are blessed, whatever package it comes in!   Vila

  • @VilaSpiderHawkAuthor - I hope you don’t mind my asking, but where in Pennsylvania are you? I am also in PA

  • @Kristenmomof3 - Oh no I don’t mind at all.  I’m not terribly far from Harrisburg in the teeny tiny town of Shermans Dale.  Vila

  • I found this very interesting. Thanks so much for posting this.

  • Wow.

How sad that she lost her relationship by doing this. Also interesting that most of the negativity she received was from the gay community itself.

I think that speaks volumes about the culture of fear and shame created in the United States. At least, that’s why I guess that people would react negatively about it. What she actually did was a valuable effort. She took the hatred someone tried to inflict upon her and used it to bring about awareness. Shame on anyone who would accuse her of trying to profit from it. Clearly, they can’t see how putting it out there for everyone to see could bring about discussion and, perhaps, understanding or change.

    Ugh.

    Go, Erin, indeed.

  • @VilaSpiderHawkAuthor - then you are a little over an hour from us

  • Haha that’s awesome :)

  • She did the right thing with that.

  • Good for her, spreading awareness about hate crimes.  Such actions can not be tolerated!

  • i wanna get this car :D haha

  • I wasn’t able to see this at all.  It isn’t working.

  • i think everyone should drive around in a rainbow colored car….spread a lil more sunshine to the world.  thanks for sharing!

  • She’s a brave lady and what she’s doing is great!
